How does the HGL work?
To open the gate, lift the latch and twist it to lock it in the raised position. When you’re ready to secure the gate, twist the handle to release the latch, and gravity drops it into the receiving slot. What types of gates does the HGL fit?

What makes HGL different from a standard latch?
HGL combines one-handed operation with Twist 'N' Lock technology, helping keep the gate securely latched while still opening quickly when you need access. How strong is the HGL?
During a 1,800-pound load test, the HGL and its triple-fastener mounting system remained firmly in place while the pipe gate and hinges failed. Is the HGL safe for use around horses and other livestock?
The HGL has a flush design with no hardware protruding from the end of the gate when it is open, helping reduce the risk of a horse or other animal catching or injuring itself on the latch.
Why use three fasteners for mounting instead of welding?
Not everyone has access to a welder, and not everyone wants to permanently modify a gate. The triple-fastener mounting system can be installed with power tools, fits a wide range of pipe gates, and maintains the flexibility to remove the latch and install it on another gate if your needs change.
Does the HGL come with a warranty?
Yes. Every Horseman’s Gravity Latch is backed by a lifetime warranty.
Do you accept returns?
We do not accept returns, so confirm that the HGL will fit your gate before ordering. If you are unsure, contact us and we’ll help you review your setup. If your HGL is damaged or develops an issue, it is covered by our lifetime warranty. Contact us, and we’ll send you a replacement latch.
Can I find HGL at any retailers?
